Thank you for this video. Do you usually paint your figures before you paint the rest of it like you did here? Or does it vary? I wanted to tell you that your midwest paintings give me a feeling that I always had when I visited my farm familyas a child. Your paintings remind me of The small town that they moved to which I was allowed to wander around in back in the day. And especially love your nighttime views of these

I resonated to your "Impatient" Just yesterday, I tried to paint a swan. Midway I wanted to give up. Luckily I took a break & continued painting later in the day & it turned out great. I realised how impatient I was & apparently I'm not alone on this :)

I've heard that if you put wet gauze under wet paper, the paper stays wet even longer. the time for work increases. but I haven't tried this method yet. :)

I have tried this several times and realized that the surface that wet paper is supposed to adhere to is essential for this idea to work..(I like the idea of doing it on glass…I think that might work better than wood? In the meantime,until I get a good quality result…I think I’ll continue to “tape” down my more serious projects….

Matthew White, I think at the end you darkened the foreground water too much. At the beginning it was more beautiful. A couple of sharp and dark dry brush marks for the foreground water might have been better. Also the reflection of trees wasn’t completely dry, and when you swipe the brush, that green color mixed into water. I love your paintings but sometimes you’re darkening foreground too much 😅 I am not a master, I am learning from you and many other artists. But I think sometimes we need to skip the rules, and just do what the painting needs and what we want. 👍🏻

How is 100% cotton paper different from canvas? Is it that it holds shape without being stretched on a frame? Could I use it for acrylic?
